CAST Resources

  1. CAST corner/cafe: located on the MB 7th floor lounge, a microwave, a mini-fridge and a toaster along with snacks, non-perishables and a variety of tea and coffee is available to Theatre and Dance students. This pantry is filled by the Theatre and Dance students for the Theatre and Dance Students.

  2. CAST office: located at GM 510, the CAST office is open to all theatre students. Whether you want to chat with a CAST member, relax on the couch or read a book from our library, you are welcome to drop by!

  3. Check our member’s drop-in hours here.

  4. CAST library: located at the CAST office, the CAST library is open to all theatre students. The CAST library intends to reduce waste at Concordia by collecting printed scripts and making them available to borrow for other students every semester.

  5. CAST’s stance on tw/cw

  6. CAST’s name-change statement

First Year Resources

  1. You should register for the whole year at once (it usually happens around March of the previous year)

  2. A list of recommended 1st-year courses

  3. Most first-year courses are in conflict with upper-year courses. Use your program guide when enrolling to make sure you get the most out of your university experience.

You can find your Program Guide at Program guides (concordia.ca).

  1. FFAR 250 is a prerequisite for Public Performance Projects (PPPs). Make sure you take it in your first year of study so you can enroll in PPPs starting your second year.

  2. The core classes are not offered during the summer. Summer classes primarily include special topics and field schools.

  3. Special topic classes and field schools are announced during the winter Town Hall of the previous year.

  4. Fall Town Hall is a good opportunity to request specific classes for the upcoming years.

  5. Make sure you maintain a professional relationship with all your peers and colleagues. Our department, and Montreal’s theatre community, are both rather small. Chances are you will be working with your peers and profs in the future.

  6. Make sure you take care of yourself. Speak up in the face of injustice and pressure and seek help. CAST is here to help you in making your university experience as smooth and productive as possible.

  7. Besides the classes required to complete your degree, take classes that interest you!

  8. You can substitute a required course with another similar class, with the permission of your area advisor through a General Student Request From.

  9. You can build your own course in an Independent Study class. Ask your full time profs or area advisors for support and permission if you have a cool idea you want to work on. Find the Independent Study form here.

  10. You can get credits for an internship outside of Concordia. Talk to your profs/area advisors for more info. Find the Internship form here.

  11. Homeroom: Make friends, navigate the university experience, co-develop new skills. Homeroom Registration 2022-2023 (Page 1 of 2) (office.com)
